Modular building system opens door to lower emissions

Circular construction company provides low carbon options while reducing waste.

XFrame’s circular and low carbon wall framing system makes it easy to change buildings without creating waste.

About 30% of all waste sent to landfill in New Zealand comes from the construction and demolition sector. To address this XFrame has developed a demountable wall framing system used in the construction and fit-out of buildings.

Made from radiata pine plywood, the XFrame system is designed for end-of-life deconstruction, reconfiguration and reuse. The system also uses a hidden reversible fixing method for attaching linings and cladding. This makes it easy for those materials to be removed and used again.

XFrame founder and Chief Technology Officer Ged Finch says the business has a research and development programme focused on circular economy principles. This approach aims to design out waste and pollution, keep products in use and regenerate nature.

“Our team is responsible for stewarding clients towards more circular and low carbon options. Replacing high carbon building systems with XFrame is an easy way to reduce the embodied carbon emissions of their fit-out projects.”
