Local reforestation projects benefit from boutique vineyard’s carbon offsets.
3sixty2 is a little Marlborough wine boutique. They produce small volumes of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Alice Rule founded the business in 2018. She’s based in Havelock North.
Before setting up the business, Alice was already offsetting her flights. Now, she opts to drive instead of fly, if possible. But she continues to offset any personal or business flights she does need to make.
Alice has extended carbon offsetting to all areas of her business. She works closely with carbon offset provider CarbonClick. Their tools let Alice’s customers offset any emissions caused by their purchases at checkout. 3sixty2 was the first New Zealand wine producer to introduce this.
Alice has gone on to offset her entire wine portfolio by 200%. That’s more than 35,900kgs of emissions offset so far. About half of these offsets are invested in local reforestation projects.
“It’s on us – the young ones, the brave ones, the let’s-try-something-new ones – to make sure climate action happens,” says 3sixty2 founder Alice Rule.
