Leading the charge
1st Class Gardens is a family-owned business. They supply garden and lawn services across Tāmaki-makau-rau.
The team bought their first electric van a few years ago. It proved so cheap to run that they bought a second one just 2 years later. This made 1st Class Gardens a mostly electric business. They also have an e-bike (with trailer), plus lawn mowers and tools powered by batteries, not petrol. They do still have one petrol vehicle, which they use as a back-up. But they offset its emissions through Z Energy and Permanent Forest NZ.
The team love their electric vans. They say they’re zippy, with great take-off. They’re also quiet and comfortable — a real pleasure to drive.
